We tune into our favorite television station to watch our favorite television show. For many Watch TV us that means following individuals we don't really know TV on Your PC a series of adventures and misadventures known as reality television. There are some that feel this type of television programming TV on Your PC demeaning and lacks both quality and originality.
However, statistics indicate the contingent of American reality TV fans is increasing and a Reality TV channel has been launched to allow fans of this genre to have access to this type of programming 24 hours a day.
What does this have to do with writing?
I'm glad you asked. You see there is a writing genre that often has the same feel as reality TV and seem to be accepted by a similar interest group.

The growth of personal memoirs tends to appeal to the same media consumer as reality television. This genre came under fire recently when it was discovered that author James Frey may have been less than honest in his memoirs giving rise to the term, "Creative Non-fiction".

First time authors have taken note of the interest in the appetite for information on people who might be interesting, but are relatively unknown and publishers are giving this type of work some added attention in manuscript selection.

While some view this genre as a solid literary format others view the current rise in the popularity of memoirs as a simple fad that may pass. However, for the near term it appears that the marketing of memoirs will find a resurgence as a sought after genre by both publishers and the public at large.
